The first British show to win a Tony Award for Best Musical, EVITA follows the epic rags-to-riches rise of the charismatic Eva Duarte, who schemes her way from fatherless child to ambitious actress to powerful wife of Argentina’s President Juan Perón. The score features Latin rhythms, military marches, and wistful ballads as Evita soars to fame, fights off detractors and achieves near-sainthood after her death to cancer at age 33. Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber; lyrics by Tim Rice. Three performances: 8p Friday and Saturday, with a 3p Sunday matinee on our historic Kirkpatrick stage, 2501 N. Blackwelder. TIckets ($12-25) from 405.208.5227.
